 Alien Cabal - Version 2.00 (DirectX 6.0)
 -------------------------------------------

Version 2.00 adds the ability to use 256 color bitmaps with any color
palette. This is demostrated in the included NewCity.gob file which
has a "castle-like" texture near the restaurant. This version of Alien
Cabal and the included VEdit editor (now in 32 bit mode) will accept
the older format GOB files, but GOB files created with the new editor
can only be used with Alien Cabal version 2.00 (or higher).

Also, the default GOB file can be specified in the INI file.

This version requires DirectX 6.0 and a 3d accelerator. See the
DirectX page on the Microsoft web site (www.microsoft.com/directx)
 for DirectX downloads.

A Pentium II processor and AGP graphics adapter with 8MB video memory is
recommended. However, a Pentium 233 with a 4MB 3d accelerated PCI video card
(such as the Matrox Mystique) will provide acceptable performance on simple
 or optimized levels.

The ACabal.ini file holds various settings for the game. Feel free to play
with the settings if you have the courage. If things seem to have too many
transparent parts try setting the TransparentColorIndex entry to 233. This
changes the transparent color from black (palette index 0) to purple (palette
index 233). So far, the only card which required this setting is the 4MB
Matrox Mystic PCI card. Hopefully, future versions will not have this problem.

This DirectX version does not include joystick or mouse support. Only the
keyboard can be used. Also, the self playing demo and game recording are
not yet implemented. Stay tuned for updates which will address these and
 other issues.
