Story
The year is 20,031. You are Trent Hawkins, a terraformation pilot. For
three years, it has been your job to fly over tough-to-navigate planetary
formations and check for habitable locations on newly terraformed planets.
You execute more hair raising maneuvers in a day than most League trained
pilots do during the course of their whole career. After many years of war,
however, you prefer blasting rock formations to vaporizing enemy starships.
Your latest assignment from the Interplanetary Council is Tyrian, a proposed
trading world on the edge of the sector, near Hazudra territory. The Hazudra
are a lizard-like race recently discovered in a nearby asteroid field. One
of your fellow workers and close friends, Buce Quesillac, was a Huzudra.
Yesterday Buce was shot in the back by a waiting hoverdrone that
disappeared into the sky before you could blink, let alone stop it.
Someone killed your best friend, and if it's the last thing you do, you're
going to find out why.
The only lead you have is what Buce told you before he died....
"My friend...you must leave Tyrian now, or you will be killed. Even after
death, I could not bear to lose you. Still, what I am about to tell you will
mark you, so listen well...
You are familiar with the corporation that controls the terraformation of
Tyrian, called Microsol. They are responsible for my death. And, do you
remember that glowing rock we discovered in the mines west of here? It was
more than just a pretty mineral. It is a new source of power called
Gravitium. Harness it, and engines will soon be obsolete. It can... control
gravity. Microsol wants it, and will eliminate anyone who knows of its
existence. They captured me two days ago and tried to erase my memory as a
warning. They did not know my memory is holographic in nature, and cannot
be wiped out. Today I would reason that they discovered this, and found
me to finish the job.
Now you must go, before they hunt you down. Hurry! Head towards Savara,
the freeworld. It will be difficult for them to follow you there. GO!"
You ran to your quarters and found them torn apart. Luckily you managed to
obtain three weeks leave and a Gencore Hawk fighter. You set out for Savara
tomorrow, and grieve at the thought of telling your parents that your best
friend has been murdered. You grieve even further wondering how you're to
stay alive with the whole of Microsol dogging your heels.
Preparing for a troubled day, you close your eyes at last, vowing to avenge
Buce's death, not knowing that what will take place in the next three weeks
will become the legend of Tyrian.
Ready yourself....

MISSION BRIEFING FLUX 0473
Javi
Gencore Security Chief
We have been monitoring some unusual freighter shipments between the derelict
planet of Gyges and the capital planet of Torm. Both planets are marked on
your Navigation Screen. Insight into these shipments may give us a clue to
the whereabouts of Microsol's base of operations. First, set course for Torm
and investigate. Then return to Deliani to report your findings and to await
further instructions.
You will be given a Gencore Hawk to fly for this mission and greater weapon
clearance priority. Good luck!
2
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 2894
Javi
Some warnings about Torm. There are dragons there. Yes, dragons. These tree
dragons enjoy feeding on metal and berillium ore of which your ship is
built, so once awakened they'll munch you right out of the sky. The best
weapon against them is a fire or flame based weapon.
Also beware of space pirates who have made a number of secret bases there
and can strike without warning. Their ships are usually camouflaged in shades
of green and can be difficult to spot amongst Torm's thick jungles.
During Torm
1
TORM TRANSMISSION FLUX
Dougan
Well, well, well. Looks like you've gotten yourself into too much trouble,
as usual. Torm is no place to be investigating for Microsol shipments.
Hmm... perhaps the reason you've been tracked this far is because there was a
homing device planted on your ship's undercarriage. Pretty high signal one,
too. Don't worry. I removed it, but whoever has been sending you on these
missions sounds like they have no idea what's going on. Microsol's activities
are centered around Savara and the Stargate. I'd say you've been sent on a
wild goose chase. Have a word with that Javi Onukala you mentioned. Ask for
answers.
2
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 02975
Javi
I see you have investigated Torm without success. There HAS to be something
there.
Homing device? I know nothing about that, but I will run an investigation.
We can't have people trying to murder our agents. Now...
I have been receiving reports from the Ixmucane sector that something
unusual is going on there. Your next mission will be to fly there and
investigate. Please select anything you like from our supply stocks.
3
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 02976
Javi
Beware on this mission of rebels from the Mendivian C sector, near Ixmucane.
These are human pirates who are aiding the Hazudra forces there led by a
faction leader named Reid. Be careful in there or they'll destroy you,
thinking you are a Microsol scout.
Microsol is attempting to gain control of the Hazudra territory there, thus
the rebel forces. But they will make no exceptions when it comes to an
intruder.
During Gyges
1
STARGATE TRANSMISSION FLUX 13619
???
Your life is forfeit, human. We know of your plans to sweep the Tyrian
sector and destroy all life. We are going to attack your fleet and obliterate
your merciless ships until you are no longer a threat to us. Your only hope
of escape is to call off the attack. Now.
I will enjoy your destruction.
2
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 23920
Javi
We have been notified of a course change. You must immediately head for the
Mendivian C sector and the home city of the rebel forces there. Obliterate
them and return to us. They are threatening to overtake the sector.
Be careful, Trent. You'll need all the firepower you can get.
After Asteroid City/Before Soh Jin
1
ASTEROID CITY TRANSMISSION 37238
Reid
I am Reid, head of the rebel Mendivian and Anti Microsol league. We do not
know why you have attacked. I would like an explanation.
What?? WE are not the ones planning an attack against the sector for total
domination. It is Microsol, stationed in Savara and ready to launch within
the next 10 days! You have been tricked! Apparently you were decieved by
Javi, who is a Hazudra traitor. He was stolen at birth and placed under
holographic mind control by Microsol. The most we have been able to uncover
about him is that he is apparently an infiltrator into Gencore Tech Alliance.
You MUST return to Deliani and stop him! He is probably the means for Microsol
to overthrow Gencore.
Quickly.. restock your ship and head for Deliani before Javi has another
chance to signal Microsol for the start of the attack!
You may be able to reach them before they form a strategic defense.
Cutscene after Soh Jin
1
Warning:
Trajectory heading intercepts hydroponic labs surrounding station Gryphon.
The hydroponic laboratories are not as heavily guarded and may allow easy
access into the station. Two routes are available through the defenses. The
first is on the outer rim of the station and will allow room for ships to
attack. The second is, unfortunately, heavily guarded by automatic turrets.
After Soh Jin
1
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 83278
Javi
I see you have discovered the truth. I was going to use you as a scout
for the fleet before I had your brain scanned for knowledge of the Gravitium.
Well, no matter. You have served your purpose. Our scientists have uncovered
its secrets and installed new engines into our fleet ships, giving them far
more power to distribute to the weapon banks. The invasion will begin soon
and you will have only a few precious days left before we execute you. You are
being sent by tractor beam to the Impound Station at Gryphon, a little known
and desolate edge of the sector where you will be unable to help your friends
in the Asteroid City. Enjoy your last hours, Trent.
After Botany A/B
1
GRYPHON TRANSMISSION FLUX 02333
Vykromod
Who do you think you are, you insignificant scum? Do you know what lies in
store for you here? The entire Gryphon fleet is mobilized and ready to attack.
Only one pirate has ever made it past our defenses. We killed him one month
later.
Playtime will not be interrupted by the likes of you.
Cutscene after Gryphon
1
First half of the sector wants you dead only because of what you know. Then,
you seek help only to be suckered into a scheme by them to wipe out the other
half of the sector. Third, when you learn about their plans, you're sent to
prison! Now that you've blasted your way to freedom, just how free are you?
There is an invasion at hand, and it looks like you're the only one who can
stop it.
Otherwise... There won't be anyplace left to hide.
Episode 3
During Gauntlet
1
ASTEROID CITY FLUX 53861
Reid
We have finally been able to get through! Javi was jamming our transmissions
for some time. I grieve for the loss of your parents, Trent. I learned of
their death only hours ago. And at the same time I read of your imprisonment
by Javi. It is up to you to help us stop the Microsol fleet from using the
Gravitium. You must fly to the Microsol base planet of Ixmucane and give us
information on fleet strength before we can marshall our forces. How many
ships, weapons, defensive capabilities, everything. Then route the information
to us via a Link Flux. We will be waiting, and good luck to you.
2
STATION GRYPHON FLUX 73725
Captain
We have monitored your escape, Hawkins. You won't get far. I have notified
The Microsol patrol nearby and they are on an intercept course to pick you
up. You could make it easier for me by waiting where you are, because I have
given them orders to destroy you if you show resistance.
3
ASTEROID CITY FLUX 53862
Reid
A word of warning when maneuvering through the caverns of Ixmucane. You must be
wary of the sawblades that Microsol installed as a security measure. If I
remember correctly, the sawblades are believed developed or at least stored
at station Gryphon. The more advanced models can be nearly indestructible.
Also huge slabs of rock can be torn from the walls and hurled at your ship
using the power of the Gravitium. Beware.
During Ixmucane
1
DELIANI FLUX 23672
Vykromod
So... you think you can outsmart a corporation whose size you cannot even
possibly imagine? You are the biggest fool I have ever seen. Turn back
now while you have the chance. You will never find the fleet's secret base,
and soon we will emerge and crush you into pulp if you remain here.
Leave now.
2
ASTEROID CITY FLUX 53863
Reid
Trent! Flee to Stargate sector immediately!! Have detected a large sqadron
apprxxme.
<Computer Log: Transmission end.>
During Stargate
1
STARGATE TRANSMISSION FLUX 0178205
???
We see that you are not a part of the hideous mass that threatens the sector.
But it is not safe for you to be here. You must go to Camanis, the ice world,
where we can supply you with weapons that can utterly destroy the fleet of
Microsol. We cannot emerge into the sector with our race because Microsol
has closed the Stargate now. It is up to you now, human. For the life of
millions, you must stop that fleet.
After Camanis (unverified)
1
CAMANIS TRANSMISSION FLUX 001
Beppo
Hey, there, friend. I see you've met up wid a few of me pals on Torm, yes?
We pirates are good. I work for the outworlders and they have told me to
give you lotsa weapons for your ship. Just step aside and I'll install
the ones you want. You pilots are good. Weapons are good. Freedom is good!
After this battle, we can go snow jumping. Waddaya say?
2
SUBSPACE TRANSMISSION FLUX 002
Vykromod
We have tracked you. You are now within our grasp. Prepare to meet your
death, Trent Hawkins. You have caused Microsol enough trouble.
This is not an idle threat, idiot. You WILL die.
3
CAMANIS TRANSMISSION FLUX 0178205
???
You know that everything is doomed, don't you?
I wish I had never gotten into this mess.
Well, anyway, let's talk about hot dogs!
You know, the kind of hot dog that used to be generated at holo-cricket games.
Now THAT was a hot dog. I could use one of those right now.
If you get a chance to swing by Ixmucane again, why don't you pick up one for me?
Your pal, Nanol.

Borogar
Trent Hawkins, congratulations! You've won the game! But it's not over yet...
Tyrian X awaits you! You must once again fly into the world where you started
this whole shebang and fight off incessant waves of enemies! We
thought you'd be interested in another shot at the title. Have fun! Heh...

Aw, geez. Now you've gone and destroyed my home planet.
Did you ever wonder why I carry a purple cloak?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now, I will have my revenge!
The name of this game isn't Tyrian! You've spelled it incorrectly, Trent
Hawkins! The universe will know of your pitiful mistake and I will rule
again!
2
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 263
Beppo
Top o' the morning, wee laddie.
I be the clone of that nasty old pirate. The scourge of Torm, I be called.
I found it, Trent! Be it that I did, and did it at that. The wondrous
Prototype Stalker. If you can make it past Savara, I might consider giving
it up to you. For a price...
This baby has it all. Someday you may even learn to use the top-secret
post-it mine sprayer.
Well, I be off now. Arrrrr!
3
DELIANI EMPORIUM DATAFLUX
Ad
Now that the game is almost over, Hank has finally gotten out of jail for
USP fraud! And now, he's gone crazy!
He's hired Beppo's clone to scour the seven sectors and steal whatever goods
he can from the wreckage Trent Hawkins has strewn across the galaxy. And ya
know what? He's found it all!
Zica Lasers, Constant Lasers, Lightning Blasts, Protron Cannons, Missile
Launchers, 8-Way Microbombs, Side Ships, and much, much more. Also, rumor
has it that Beppo's got the new Microsol Fighter, but he's not tellin' unless
you've got the cash.
So come on down right now while anarchy lasts!

INCOMING TRANSMISSION from Magnatower Center
Transon
Now, look, Trent Hawkins, I am sick and tired of you blowing our Z-29
Central Defense Ship to bits!
Take your stupid war somewhere else and stop destroying our defense fleet!
I don't care if your family WAS killed down here!
If you ever return to Savara, I'm going to call out a planetary alert and
send the entire sector after your ship!
So, GO AWAY!
Unknown (probably during Savara Y)
1
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 83278
Javi
Hello, Trent. I received word from a rather irate Transon Lohk that you'd
be headed this way.
The Illuminator is safely tucked away where you won't find it. I'll give
you a hint. It's not on Deliani.
But I am.
I have the defenses of the entire planet waiting to move down on you and take
you out.
Enjoy your stay, Trent. If you're reading this message, I know you've
hacked into our defense net. If not...
2
DELIANI TRANSMISSION FLUX 83278
Javi
Oh, by the way. Nice job you did for us back at Ixmucane. We would have lost
a number of ships from the modified Zica weapons being tested there.
Didn't know about that, huh? Too bad, no-one can help you now.
Cutscene after Fleet/New Deli
1
Your ship streams from the incandescent glow of the explosions you have just
created in the midst of the Microsol fleet, and hunts down the final escape
pod from the mother ship just as it punches into hyperspace.
It is finally over. The people of Deliani are saved, and you have stopped a
galaxy wide catastrophe.
2
"Congratulations!" shouts Transon Lohk over the comm screen. "Our forces were
ready to defend the city after your last transmission, but thanks to you we
haven't even suffered a scratch. I will make sure you are richly rewarded for
this..."
3
You smile and flick off the comm, your mouth twisted into a frown. No reward
could bring back your parents, and your best friend. Though you have saved
millions of lives, why did the people closest to you have to suffer? Still,
there's nothing you can do about it, and you vow to make sure that the same
thing never happens again. From now on Tyrian sector will be a name
synonymous with peace...

IXMUCANE - PRIVATE LINK
Tech
Tightbeam private coded message.
Forwarded by Downstar at unknown link.
Attached message included as second data message.
Decoded transmission follows:
This is Harble Wom at the Microsol planet Ixmucane. This is a Downstar
emergency request by Downstar agent ID 00329, Tech IX9204. I am patched into
a secure net and cannot explain fully.
Through collaborating with other Techs, I have learned that Microsol has
unlocked some of the Zica command codes. The SCIs have activated the
ancient computer system! Temperature is 103ø here in the service bay and
rising. Men are complaining but being turned away by the guards. I fear
that only armed conflict will prevent our massacre. Several Techs are reported
missing and we fear they were killed for trying to escape.
I think...
I think they're going to turn this planet into a sun.
GET ME OUT OF HERE!
I DON'T WANT TO BE CAUGHT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS PLANET WHEN THEY TURN IT
INTO A SUN!!!!

[End of File]
2
INCOMING TRANSMISSION from Gencore Command Ship IcoStar II
Transon
You've probably read the message before this one, Trent. I don't need to
tell you that this is a problem, and it means doom.
I know I am a boring old man and I dragged you back across the galaxy against
your own will, but please hear me out.
I am placed in the regrettible position of having to try and stop this
insanity. I hope Harble was wrong, but this is an alien technology more
advanced than our own.
Gencore believes that if Microsol can reactivate the computer systems, they
will have a limitless power source and would certainly monopolize the energy
trade.
As regrettible as it would be, if that was all it was I would reluctantly have to
allow them to activate the planet and keep their energy. We could
still fight them economically from other directions. The problem is that
there's a vast number of scientists and technicians from independent
governments and education centers stationed on Ixmucane via the universal Free
Education Act. At last count, there were about 1.5 million of the brightest
minds in the universe centered on Ixmucane. Now, there's a giant military
fleet flying around inside that blasted rock which has prevented nearly
everyone from escaping!
If they turn that rock into a sun, it will mean a scientific setback that will last for
millenia! We have much of the information, but few outside the Free Education
system have the ability to comprehend and utilize it. While we're busy
relearning all that has been lost, Microsol will undoubtedly push ahead and
take over the rest of the colonized universe.
I can't let that happen, under any cost.
We, along with several other major corporations, have assembled an emergency
fleet which will converge on Ixmucane.
Yes, Trent, you are part of the emergency fleet. During your last maintenance
run, we planted some false programming into your computer banks. After you
receive my coded message, your viewscreen will be correctly reactivated.
That vacation you were planning will just have to wait. Glad to have you with
us.
We're counting on you to slow them down long enough for us to free the
trapped people. If they activate the planet, we'll somehow make sure they can't use
it.
And Trent... I don't know if you'll accept this, but I'm sorry.

Recorded VidCom - GT 29:21
I wasn't sure if I was going to hear from you again, but you cleared out
enough of the surface ships for us to break through and start rescuing the
people trapped on the upper sections of the planet.
We need more time, Trent. The temperature is rising even on the surface now,
and it's a matter of minutes before it's deadly. You've got to fly
down into the planet and distract whatever's in the core. We've destroyed enough of their
jamming beacons to scan the interior of the planet and have located a central
shaft leading deep into the planet. The coordinates were downloaded into
your computer with this message.
Good luck. We'll try to save as many as possible before the planet goes.
Further communications won't be possible from me, but there's some friendly groups in
the lower sections who have seized control. They will probably try to contact
you and may be able to provide assistance. A robot service vehicle has been
despatched to follow you down. It's all we can spare.
We're all depending on you to distract them. Do what you must.

No matter. This planet is going to be vaporized, intruder. There's no hope

HOLO NEWS - XP9 v123-02-39
News
This is Rob Neither with the daily news.
Zinglon's Nose Stolen
A holy artifact believed to be the nose of Zinglon himself was stolen from the
Torm Orbiting Museum. Religious followers are in an uproar and demand that
the party responsible return the nose immediately. A full-scale investigation
has been launched and several planets are fully mobilizing for jihad - holy war.
Ixmucane Threatened With Destruction -
1.5 Million to Be Killed
In other news, Microsol has reportedly threatened the extinction of 1.5
million scientists and engineers on the planet Ixmucane. A small relief fleet
has been called in, headed mainly by Gencore, to save as many people as possible.
[Clara, Co-reporter [CC]] : Does it really matter, Rob? I'm beginning to think
there's nowhere in the galaxy not under some mysterious threat, but somehow it
all seems to work out fairly easily with no deaths on our side. Isn't this
some kind of a hoax?
[Rob, Reporter [RR]] : Seems that way to me. I can remember when a war was
something you could feel. Not just some report on how many scraps of metal
were found. To date, there has been no real evidence of any Gencore or other
alliance ships participating in any major conflict. Just minor skirmishes
with scout ships on our side.
[CC] : So this is some kind of hoax?
[RR] : Probably. It's this lack of standards that make me wish I was back in
holo-sports. Now that had a future. This fake war is making me sick. There's
nothing worse than someone manufacturing a war by exploding tons of robot
starships. Nothing but a big fireworks display.
[CC] : OH? Are we still on the air?

ARCHIVE DATA
Data
Reference: Ixmucane Core sensor report
Sensor arrays have detected 3 main types of anomalous readings.
1 - Unknown Zica defense systems. Most defense systems are radiating large
amounts of infrared energy and are probably thermal based. An unknown energy
force appears to be directing the thermal energy flow.
2 - Crystalline Ore. A highly volatile, energy-rich crystal ore has been
detected in this area. Dralictite and Morenzinum are indicated in fairly
high quantities near the center.
3 - Large Unknown Energy Source. A central energy source is producing unknown
levels of heat energy. This source is a critical threat and your heat
shielding will last for approximately 30 seconds in contact with the device.
You will have approximately 10 seconds to destroy the source when within
critical range.

Tech
Tightbeam private coded message.
Originating from Ixmucane internal section 12-9-4.
This is Tech Harble Wom from level 12. We have freed this section from
Microsol control and have monitored your incoming ship.
You appear to be piloting a neutral freemarket scout-class starship. Are you
here to help? Did Downstar send you?
We are trapped here in level 12 by a security lockout and can't break through
the blast-shielding.
Look, whoever you are, we're in a tight spot. There's no time left for us to
escape - the defense drones are inaccessible to these computer systems and
none of us can override the security codes. You gotta help us out. There's
thousands of us trapped here in the middle of this rock. We've got some
sensors working and know that someone's up there evacuating the population,
but there's no time.
This planet is going to vaporize in about 30 minutes, maybe an hour. There's
more of us trapped down below somewhere closer to the core and they can't
get out either. There's just no way you're gonna reach us down here.
Microsol's activated some old Zica system down there near the core, and it's
raising the temperature something fierce. You've got to take it out fast or
we'll never make it!
No time! Just continue down that tunnel! There's something massive down
there burning a hole through the planet! We sent another data cube with a
sensor report of the core. I hope you got it!

We can't read you very well, but we're sending down the coordinates of a

I know you did your best, Trent.
I...
I wish we could have saved them all.
Trent...
Did you hear from Harble? He was an agent of ours somewhere down there.
I'm sure he's dead now, but I hope he was able to help you. We received a

Transon
You did it!
The energy source we detected is fading fast and the temperature is dropping
back to normal.
Actually, we have a new problem.
The temperature is falling so fast, you must have blown up the central
energy source for the core. We estimate the planet is going to freeze in
about 6 hours. We will continue the relief efforts, but there's a number of
people trapped on the lower levels we'll never reach.
Also, Trent, we received a transmission from Harble Wom, a Gencore agent
we've got stashed down there. Seems he detected your ship and tried to send
some sensor data your way. Try and contact him if you need help. He's
trapped in level 12.
It's the best we can hope for. There's nothing else you can do down there.
We sent the coordinates of a probable escape tunnel for you to use.
Try and get yourself out of there in one piece, will you? I don't need
another corpse on my conscience.

Hey, buddy, we've got you back on our sensors. What's going on out there?
This place is getting so cold now our display panels are starting to crack
from the temperature stress!
Look, buddy. We've got one of those cursed Microsol SCIs down here with us,
and with a little friendly laser probing we've got him to talking. He says
that they've got an escape tunnel out there - the one you're on - which
contains their main tech center.
He says you can reactivate the core with one of the consoles in that sector.
The access code has been attached to this message and should be in your
computer banks. You've gotta deactivate this crazy place and reactivate
the main system. Just like an SCI to mess up the whole planet trying to get
one dang thing to work right!
And, do it FAST, will ya!? I don't want to die down here in this Microsol

The temperature is dropping to the critical point near your section. I don't
think we'll be able to save everyone in the lower levels, but you gave us the
valuable time we needed. I thank you for it.
About 7500 people lived because of your diversion.
As I said, the air near you is reaching a critical point and we believe the atmosphere
down there is going to literally freeze solid. There's still a group of
combat drones near you, but it's the only quick way out from there.
Oh yes, we received a brief trasmission from Harble.
He said:
"Whoever you are... um...
Thanks anyway. AAAAUUUGGGHHH! THE CONTROL PANEL SHATTERED!"
Nothing left to do, Trent. Get out of there before the place freezes solid!

I can't believe my eyes!
Our sensors tell us the central core has come back online somehow and the
core temperature is returning to normal. What did you do? We detected a
skirmish and a release of many large protron explosions.
I don't know how you managed it, but we can now extend our efforts toward
those trapped in the lower levels. I think we're going to be able to save
these people after all.
No way is this ever going to be a Microsol world again. I think I'm going
to be able to convince the other corporations to join me now. There's no
telling what they would have done if this place became active.
I can tell you now, Trent.
I believe there's no way in this universe we could have stopped Microsol
if this planet was activated. It might have taken a decade or two, but there's
no way to compete with an unlimited energy source like this. Best we could
have hoped for was to keep them from controlling it. With all our best
SCIs dead, though, we couldn't have stopped them.
Trent, the air out there is still at the critical freezing point, so you'd
better get out of there before the coldwave reaches you. Don't worry about
the people trapped below. They're pretty safe behind this Zica shielding,
and the energy conduits will reach them first. You're out there in
the open!
I don't need a frozen cadaver on my hands!

Confidential memo #4410-303-TDCam
Laser research is progressing steadily, according to projections.
Project Thermos has completed stage 2 and is moving to the final stage 3. We
anticipate having a prototype stage 3 laser cannon very soon.
Camanis research station Loopy is prepared to ship 3 modified battle cruisers
to you as soon as we receive word from you. Planetary coordinates for pickup
are 399 x 21.
We need confirmation immediately. So far, we don't believe any enemy forces
have learned of our position, but we only have a skeleton defense force. No
main battle cruisers are currently online. This leaves us especially vulnerable
to outside attack.

Transon. We are under attack by a giant Microsol combat fleet.
I have sealed off the planet surface with a fleet of battle cruisers, but someone
seems to be playing havoc up there with our security codes. Our defense net
has been turned against us, and I'm not in control of the main computer
system anymore.
An elite group of guards and I have sealed off the secret command center and
are prepared to activate the escape system. We are cut off from the main
system and no longer control the planet. It is all I could do to get this
coded channel out to you before they override the private comm links.
We know little about what is happening up there, but we have managed to detect
a giant ship moving through the underground of the planet. This thing is
unusually large, and is tapping into our power systems. I do not think we
could stop it now if we even had the means to try.
You must seal off the planet.
Or else...
Transon. We have made it our primary concern to keep the A1 UPLINK open. If
you can not stop the fleet from taking total control of the planet, you will
have to activate the Nova system. I do not think it will take them too long
to find us once we jettison ourselves from the planet core.
Make them suffer, Transon. I... would.

Thanks, Transon. While the mice are away, the cat will play. Heh.
I trust you've enjoyed playing with Ixmucane. Now, we're going to do a little

some of those old security codes in place. They don't make 'em like you
anymore.

Something's going on down there on Deliani!
I'm sure you read the two previous messages.
What can we do? You've got to fly ahead and distract them until we arrive,
somehow. We've sent out a droneship to attach some booster packs to your
ship. They should be enough to get you to Deliani. We'll try to get some
equipment to you along the way and once you reach the planet.
You now know as much as I do, Trent. I can't believe they were able to
get this fleet out undetected. Something's going on - I don't like this
one bit. We've been picking up unknown, strange ships and energy patterns the
whole time while in orbit around this planet.
The universe is erupting into chaos, Trent! This is the only chance to save
what's left! If you fail, we'll never be able to reach the planet in time,
even if we wanted to destroy it. I can't tell you what the Nova system is
on this link,
but suffice it to say - it was our final hope in case we couldn't stop
Microsol someday. It seems that day has passed me by - the blind fool I've been!

Are you Trent? I have heard of you from Transon.
Forgive me for not introducing myself, but a certain crazed lunatic is
hammering on my pod's shielding with Lightning blasts. I do not believe there
is a very good probability we will survive much longer, but I need to tell you
what you are up against.
The main defense net consists of battle platforms. Most of these launch
semi-guided micro missiles, though some fire more mundane energy blasts. The
missiles are what you should first look out for, though. I would suggest
equipping some direct side-firing weaponry if you have it available.
Halfway through the core you will encounter a large battle section which you
should take out first. This is fairly straightforward, but afterward you will be
attacked with a number of giant semi-guided missiles from behind. Do not
attempt to destroy these. Instead, try to conserve your energy and find a way
around them, while keeping a hold on those micro missiles.
The final fleet ship seems to be a multi-stage defense

We've picked up your transmission of success in defeating the main defense
ship. I don't mean to criticize your ability, but that seemed too easy.
I think we can repair the damage you did to Deliani without too much trouble.
At least, once we get back into the computer net. With Mondus, the head
of Deliani Control, destroyed, we're going to have a tough time trying to
reinterface with the computer. With all the people you helped us rescue,
the IcoStar II should have enough brainpower to crack the security
fairly soon, I hope.
This definitely wasn't their main objective. We tried to pick up a Captain
Nob escaping from Ixmucane, but were unable to stop him. All we know is that
he was heading in the direction of Savara. We sent some supply ships on
ahead to rendezvous with you and some other fighter ships we just dispatched.
They'll be moving in first to take out the chemical processing plants, which
should draw their energy production systems to a halt. I'm afraid I rebuilt the Z-29
Central Defense Ship again, and we improved on the design.
Microsol's probably already captured it with the same security backdoors
they used here. Sorry. I need you to go and destroy it again.
Once we get back in and get our sensor grid up we'll be able to help you
some more in locating Microsol's main target.
Good luck, Trent.

My long-range sensors have detected a gigantic ship heading our way. It's
not the size that bothers me, though. It's not really all that big in size,
but the energy readings I'm getting from it are off the scale.
It appears to also have an insane mass analysis reading, like it was
something as massive as a planet. I don't like this, Trent. I must deal
with the ships down here on Savara, but it appears to be interested only in
you, as it's matching your course exactly.
There's about one hour left before it reaches orbit. My ship is... damaged.

It seems that the shielding on that ship is being disrupted by the weird

Today with the collaboration of the Deliani central committee and the Tyrian
regional tribunal, a memorial statue was erected on Tyrian's capital city of
Fauchi's central complex pedestal.
The statue was erected to commemorate the heroic efforts of Trent Hawkins,
already a legend in the galaxy for his superhuman fighter pilot skills and his
single handed rescue of the system from the invading Vykromod fleet.

THE GREY BOOKS RETURN
Mysterious grey books filled with unknown material have surfaced in an
archaeological expedition to Savara led by well known scientist Graphim
Arugo.
The books are ecased in a medium grade durable material and are alien in
nature, although Graphim believes that they originated on a distant
planet named Earth mentioned in several folklore passages.
Filled with graphite and lead compounds, the books seem to carry a clue to
unraveling the mystery behind Tyrian's unknown past. The research team
believes that the graphite compounds have a direct connection to Tyrian's
gravitron crust.

Grand to see that you have emerged victorious from the asteroid fields. It was
a most impressive display to see their ships explode from your assault.
Again, we do apologize for setting you on this dangerous course, but there
really was no other way to stop the Zinglonites.
Yes, Zinglon. While there is no sign of him in any form, his essence
lives on in his followers. It is certain that they are trying once again to
destroy everything.
Microsol is merely one front to their power, though decidedly weakened.
What remains is a more sinister subterfuge. For instance, already food
supplies have been reduced to little else but Gruel. We believe starvation
is one part of their plans.
Either Savara or Camanis would be a good place to look first, as
activity on both worlds is very high right now. Your ship will be allowed to
travel to either, of course, without fear of detonation. If they notice your
presence we feel there is a good chance they will reveal themselves to you out
of anger.
And thank you, Trent. The Hazudra friend you had was once close
to me as well. I am sorry he could not be with you now, for a good friend
would have made the journey so much easier.

A glorious message from our god led us to this final path. While some
doubt us, but we realized to fulfill Zinglon's wishes we must control
the food supply to all. Then twist it to his will.
His ire is absolute, and his hatred for you brims over and
envelops your future.
Soon you shall behold the fruit of our glorious and divine leader.
Cutscene after Fruit

Related by your onetime friendship with Buce, you were sought out by his
people, the Hazudra Collectors, and sent to destroy the Zinglonites.
With none of their forces left and the deadly fruit weapons destroyed, the
universe as a whole is silent once again. No response ever comes of your
inquiry to the state of the Hazudra or who sent you on this journey. The
secret haunts you in your sleep.
Still a hero once again, as always...

TYRIAN:
Dining:
Though only recently habitable, Tyrian features some capable cooking. There
is little outstanding about most of the establishments, unfortunately.
The Terrace de Rock is a lovely dining hall in the city of Rockenheimer
where mineral creatures can dine to their delight on tasty quartz and feldspar
dishes.
For our reptilian cousins, there is a fine selection of delicacies tuned to
the discriminating grubbite. No finer mealworms can be found this side of
the galaxy.
Sadly, there is only one dining establishment for humans: another chain in the
Interstellar House of Gruel. This one is even more miserable than the
one located in the toejam of Torm. Avoid at all costs and try the mealworms
instead.
Culture:
There is only a rudimentary culture on Tyrian, but it does boast a fair number
of lovely recreation camps for younger kids. Rockland is a fine example of
these joyous facilities. For only 2400 Cs you can send your unloved one away
to slave in the beautiful quartz and feldspar mines, where they will learn all
about geological instabilities, gaseous substances, forced marches, and
especially large-scale mountain sculpture. It's an experience no kid would
ever forget!
Mineralists will also be able to gaze in wonder at the incredibly varied
geology of the surface strata. Worth a look.
Entertainment:
Most visitors come to Tyrian to watch the beautiful floating rocks. Every
two months Microsol features a new upheaval where you can see these giant
rocks literally rip themselves out of the surface. One note of caution, though.
Unfortunately, this is extremely dangerous and they don't know in advance
exactly which rocks will fly off. But, for a small fee, they will arrange
hospital pickup and quick to-go funeral services.
Asteroid Field Sector 1

ASTEROID 1:
Dining:
Sector 1 is guest to none other than the galaxy's only Gestalt Greasers.
The building is an unparalleled giant bubble, with a panoramic view extending
out into the stars. Fortunately, Greasers has a holo field emitter which can
project onto the bubble any one of thousands of locations. The food is
worthless slime, but if you ever wanted to visit a thousand locations all at
once, you have picked the right place. Greasers does a brisk job of special
services and birthdays. The Order of Zinglon swears by this place.
Culture:
Most of the people in this area simply cannot afford a culture, but there is
a great deal of second-hand style in this place. What little they can afford
is packed into the greatest hoe-downs anyone has ever seen.
Entertainment:
Most of the asteroid belt is off-limits to tourists, but there are a number
of public access roads where you can spend your time annoying overworked
miners by buzzing past them at over 8 Gs. A must event for the whole family!
Another big attraction is the lonely miner bars located all over the area.
This is the place to find that overworked barbarian of your dreams.
Asteroid Field Sector 1
TYRIAN SYSTEM DATAFLUX - ASTEROID SECTOR 1
Data
The first asteroid sector of the Tyrian system is the central mining colony
where Microsol has been providing immense amounts of metal for starship
construction. Here can be found gigantic drilling machines and hangars for
prototype models that Microsol builds.
Maneuverability whilst in this sector is limited because of the large
asteroids, and Microsol has installed numerous energy turrets that destroy
any approaching objects that threaten the installations. A multi-directional
weapon is recommended for countering the asteroids and the bases.
Also, an unusual anomaly has been detected in the sector indicating a
possible dimensional shift near an ancient statue at the center of the field.
Asteroid Field Sector 2
Scenic guide to the universe: Asteroid Field Sector 2

ASTEROID 2:
Dining:
Sector 2 is an extremely restricted area. Only the most important V.I.P.s
are allowed to even enter the space around here. For this reason, sector 2
has the galaxy's largest free-floating pizza parlor. This business is far more
efficient than most, but it needs to be because of the large orders they
receive. When you place your order, you are guaranteed delivery in under
3 minutes. To achieve this remarkable rate for large orders, the entire
parlor can be moved into position above your building's pizza-intake valve.
Then, it's bombs away as the entire order is blasted to your receiving room
at 3000 miles/sec!
Every year, the bigwigs at Microsol spend months devising ever more challenging
orders for these people to fill, but they haven't won yet. You can be sure
their computers are churning away at this very minute to find new ways to
exceed the 3-minute waiting time and receive their pizzas for free.
The name of the place? Damenoes.
Culture:
A potpourri of the most important useless people roam the underground
corridors of this massive research facility. They represent the largest
mass of paper-pushers and pencil-sharpeners the universe has ever known.
Entertainment:
None. This center is a rehabilitation camp for useless people. Microsol's
grand design is to force at least one person to realize a single ounce of
useful work. This plan has been a total failure.
Asteroid Field Sector 2
TYRIAN SYSTEM DATAFLUX - ASTEROID SECTOR 2
Data
The second sector of asteroids in the Tyrian system is not used by Microsol
for mining purposes, but instead as a proving grounds for new craft and
ground assault weapons, their newest being the Thunder HX-21: a small,
tank-like vehicle that fires a powerful plasma blast that can damage even
the most heavily armored starships!
Beware also of deadly laser turrets. The blasts can obliterate the largest of
asteroids, so imagine what they can do to a ship...

SOH JIN:
Dining:
The cornucopia of desert foods are enough to enliven any Arabian tale.
Most restauraunts serve over 20 different types of figs alone.
The most impressive eatery, though, is Assan's Low-Cal Oasis. Assan's
sells over one hundred varieties of figs, seventeen types of camel dishes,
and three other secret dishes we can't even recognize. To top it off, nothing
served here is over twenty calories. It's a dieter's dreamworld come true, as
Assan can do things with figs that lesser men only dream of.
On the other side of the dusty world is Coshack and his Green Walnut.
Within the confines of this lovely vegetarian oasis lies the world's only
walnut tree. How he keeps it growing in this climate is but a mystery, but
guests can take a guided tour detailing the mysteries of this planet's fruit.
An experience not to be missed.
Culture:
Technology has adapted this nomadic world to a nomadic life of space-travel.
The locals are wary of outsiders, but will freely accept you as long as you
can speak their language. Fortunately, the locals were never too bright and
most people can fake their ancestral language which consists of only one word:
Sand.
Entertainment:
Camel jaunts are minutes away from any location on the planet. Also, Sand-gathering
and wyrm hunting are two of the most widely enjoyed pleasures this world has
to offer.
Soh Jin boasts the galaxy's largest mountain of sand. It's a wonder. Actually,
it's a wonder you can see it through the constant sandstorms, but if you do miss
the few seconds it's visible every thousand years, you can purchase any number
of delightful postcards from the people who saw it the last time.
Make sure you hire a local guide, though, as most people are quite lost nearly
three feet from a building. The locals have cunningly placed a dampening field
which neutralizes positioning beacons, so you'd better follow their custom.
Holes
Scenic guide to the universe: Holes
Guidebook
HOLES:
This is an uninhabited moon which is being placed into use by a race of
unknown creatures under the apparent funding of Microsol. It is still a
breathtaking place to visit, though.
Dining:
Though the surface is totally uninhabitable and the atmosphere still consists
of chlorine and acid, there is an Interstellar House of Gruel already
located here. While they haven't received a customer yet who survived the
descent to the surface, they do have high hopes. Featured on display in the
dining hall are the withered remains of the customers who came but died on the
way down.
Culture:
There is no real culture here, per se, but there are a number of military
excursions here by the race who terraformed this planet. As they don't happen
to like gruel, nobody in the sector has met one of these creatures yet.
Entertainment:
Many a scientist comes here after retirement to watch all their fundamental
mathematical theorems fall apart as they watch the landmasses floating in
apparent defiance to their life's work.
Gyges

GYGES:
Dining:
This planet is the home to the largest mass of organic creatures ever seen.
What breeds down in the pits of the planet is unknown and unrecognizable, but
can be purchased for a low price at Wobbo: Land O' Meat.
The crayball surprise is a most elegant delectible, served with fresh Zimbles
or your choice of Tokkies. Wobbo's fine assortment of Gyganian delicacies are
not to be matched by any other proprietor on Gyges. For parties, order an
entire Garmon Platter. The size of a large scout ship, this massive crustacean
serves over 500 human-sized patrons!
Vegetarians should avoid this planet at all costs, as the local creatures
view such people as the lowest on the food chain. As far as this planet is
concerned, vegetarians are free game. Many a hapless veggie has dared to
avoid the local food and has been subsequently eaten.
A common saying on Gyges: "If you don't want to eat my friends, then I'll
eat YOU!"
Culture:
Most of the slimy inhabitants of this weird place don't speak any sort of
recognizable language. For those who simply must take an excursion down below,
bring a star destroyer along with you, or else some vegetarians to serve as
bait. If the denziens are not too hungry that day, you can probably slip by with
only throwing a few vegetarians to the masses. Just remember that you'll want
to leave again.
If you're fortunate enough to be allowed to visit the great Stomach to pay
homage to him, you will find your stay well rewarded. Only a few are allowed
to visit this special creature, and he has it in his power to make those he
trusts quite lucrative deals. Authorities claim he is often in violation of
intergalactic law with his enterprises, but so far none of the police have
been able to arrest the entire planet.
Entertainment:
Gyges boasts some rather wonderfully seedy nightclubs and is only rivaled in
despair and general piracy to Torm. You can be sure if you visit this planet
that it will open up a whole new world of fun and excitement. Just make sure
you sample the local food... or else.
Savara

SAVARA:
Dining:
Come and visit the interstellar dining halls in the underwater city of
Ploo. Dozens of aquatic fish swim about the domed windows, and you can
simply point to the fish of your desire and it will be captured and cooked
for you in under 30 seconds!
Also remarkable is the bewildering variety of ethnic restauraunts located on
the surface. Many also cater to the more exotic tastes by serving the patrons
of competing restauraunts, literally! Anything edible [and some things that
aren't] can be purchased here at a competitive price.
Culture:
Savara is the eclectic hub of the sector, where many varied cultures live
together in apparent peace and harmony, though you'll want to avoid these areas
since few tourists leave them alive. However, you can sit behind glass
enclosures as you watch the race of your choice go about their daily tasks,
unable to stop you from prying into their private affairs.
Also available is the Bring it to You service, where for a small fee the
locals will run out and round up a few ethnic groups of your choice who will
be forced to act as if they enjoy your presence. A must for the self-conscious
traveller!
Entertainment:
Savara is the merchant center of the sector, where just about anything you want
and everything you don't want can be found at an agressive price. Price
fixing and Mob control have seen that no individual merchants will ever charge
anything that isn't fair.
Also, you will definitely want to visit the Interstellar House of
Gruel wherein you will see the fascinating history and story behind the
great world of Gruel. A fun affair for the whole family!

DELIANI:
Travel Tip:
Though most areas of the planet are restricted and guards are often ordered
to shoot unidentified personnel on sight, if you stay in the Light Green Zone
you should have no problems avoiding personal injury and death. Be sure to
avoid the Blue-Green and Turquoise Zones as well as the Stix Zone. The
Red and Yellow Zones are safe for travel, though the Yellow is often confused
with the Off-White and Peach Deadly Areas. Many a color-blind traveller has
been killed by accident.
Dining:
Deliani provides the most technically advanced cooking systems in the known
universe. Dishes that simply aren't palatable anywhere else still won't be
very good here, but Chef Yo of Deliani's motto is: If it's matter, we can
make you eat it. A unique experience you'll never be able to repeat!
Culture:
One word: Robotics. Anyone's fetish for robotics can be satisfied here.
Androbots, Lobots, Robots, Androids, Redroids, Droid Droids, and many other
varieties of metallic life forms are welcome here, as long as they stay in the
Burnt Sienna or Brick Red Zones.
Deliani is the home of such Fluxnet 21 favorites as Honey, I Shorted-Out
the Kidforms - Almo and Zik-Nar X3 - My Mother the Lobot.
Entertainment:
Gencore always has a number of exciting entertainment opportunities available
for tourists. Any number of military drills, parades, and barbaric information
torture drills can be found here. A must for military buffs.

IXMUCANE:
The original headquarters of Microsol. This planet has a very dry
and desert-like surface with the occasional mountain range. The advantage of
this world is its weak inner crust, allowing Microsol to build
gigantic research facilities undergound. Immense domed cities can be seen
in major research and production locations. The tragedy of Ixmucane is that it
was originally the home of the Zica, an unknown race of alien that
originally carved immeasurable labrynthine tunnel systems under the
surface.
The Zica are feared by xenoscientists, who believe that the they have fled
to the outer reaches of the sector where they plan to launch a massive attack
on Deliani and Microsol, using outer-dimensional technology.
But is it true...?
And, if so, will I, the writer, ever grow bored enough to write the sequel
using this suggested plotline?

Scenic guide to the universe: Torm
Windy
TORM:
A rubnik is worth a thousand words on this planet.
Sector capital and regional chapter of the Interplanetary Government. Torm is
one of the largest worlds in the sector, surpassed in size only by the ice
world of Camanis. The surface is similar to Savara's, though consisting of
grasslands and heavily forested mountain regions. The city capital, Portoch,
is a metropolis of corruption and dark, rainy days.
Dining:
Torm is a vegetarian's delight or worst nightmare. Twenty-eight thousand
types of vegetarian dishes are served daily, with another Sixty thousand
on request. Also prevalent is a large selection of animal dishes with the
ever-popular and expensive dragon succotash. Many people save up their
whole lives just to order this dish once. Many others succumb to the toxic
nature of the dish, but what a way to go.
Culture:
Only make a visit to be depressed, since the buildings are so neglected they
are streaked with dirt. It is said that the chapter lords are so decadent
that they seldom emerge from the local simulation clubs. The city itself is
an example of why Microsol holds so much sway in governmental policies: bribery.
Entertainment:
On Torm, you can partake of the most degrading sports and acts known in the
universe. Few ever leave this planet the same, and fewer even leave - or can.
A visit to this planet is one you won't easily miss. Be sure to bring a
bodyguard. Actually, bring a whole army. You'll need them.
Camanis

Located 2 miles east of the Ultra-secret Microsol research station is the
All-powerful Bob Hartley's IceCream-O-Matic. The ultimate in high-powered
instant cryo manufacturing facilities, the ICOM system can instantaneously
generate up to 3 cubic miles of ice cream, in any of 24 billion flavors.
Microsol has made this possible by purchasing out all other ice cream manufacturing
facilities and amassing the recipies of every vendor who has ever existed.
This bewildering decision rocked the world of ice cream futures but made
Microsol the undisputed master of all the ice cream in the universe. They take
their ice seriously.
Culture:
Not many people enjoy living in the sub-zero confines of this planet. Because
of this, they are an extremely proud people, prone to bawling out wimps like
you who have climate control. If you visit, be sure not to mention how cold
it is unless you want a very one-sided conversation. Steer your topics
toward their lovely scenery and extensive museums of ice sculptures.
Entertainment:
A skiiers dream. This is the cold vacation spot of the universe. Millions of
ski slopes litter the world, providing entertainment to endless visitors each
year. Camanis boasts year-round snow and optional near-zero visibility for the
ultra-suicidal skiier. What more could one ask for?
For the friends of those suicidal skiiers who are dragged along on vacation,
try out your hand at massive free-form laser ice sculpture. For a small fee
per hour, you can have the enjoyment of carving up your very own mountain.
If you simply must take it back home with you, Camanis even offers 2nd minute

keep it cool. An adventure for the whole family!
Ships
USP Talon Light Fighter
The USP Talon provides you with one full inch of armor plating and a
generous full-sized generator an engine area. With both forward and rear
mounting systems and 2 cargo bays, it's just like a real Microsol
fighter!
The craft is especially designed for speed and maneuverability; it gives
you an unparalleled 3G base thurst addition!
All this for only 6000 cr!!
USP Fang Light Fighter
The USP Fang is a standard Talon that has been retrofitted with
additional armor and a more powerful secondary backup defense system.
As alays, the USP invulnerability system is unique in its field and, if
used properly, will let you take out anything else in the universe.
Gencore Phoenix
The Gencore Phoenix is the main advanced Gencore Solo Fighter.
It's an extremely reliable craft that can take a good deal of
punishment.
Standard on the Gencore Solo Fighter line is the new particle
redefinition technology, which allows you to materialize extra armor on
your outer hull. PIlots are warned that the system is easily triggered
and it completely drains your shields.
Gencore Maelstrom
The Gencore Maelstrom is a refined Phoenix with an additional 2cm of
main hull. It also features deluxe plush seating with extra-wide
armrests and synth-velour lining.
Standard on the Gencore Solo Fighter line is the new particle
redefinition technology, which allows you to materialize extra armor on
your outer hull. PIlots are warned that the system is easily triggered
and it completely drains your shields.
Gencore II
This craft is the result of Gencore raids on key Microsol research
facilities following the recent conflicts in the Asteroid sectors.
Taking an existing ship design, Gencore retrofitted it with an advanced
armor design and power couplings, resulting in a more economical but
worthy fighter craft. This design radically improves Gencore military
effectiveness.
MicroCorp Stalker
Microsol. What more do you need to convince you that their Stalker Solo
Fighter is the ship you want? Not so fast though. You'll pay a hefty
premium for this ship or have to fill out a stack of forms two feet
high.
With its dense hull alloys and overall excellent defensive capability,
you'll sleep safer at night with one of these on your side.
MicroCorp Stalker-B
Microsol continues the Stalker line with the Stalker-B. This is the
deluxe model preferred by Microsol's own Outer Scouts. It's the ship of
choice for those long, solo flights.
The Stalker-B adds an additional 2 structural units with its refined
alloys, for an unheard of 28 SUs in a solo craft.
Prototype Stalker-C
TOP SECRET: The quest continues for the strongest ship available with
the most powerful backup defense systems. This is one of the only ships
in existence with 3 defense bays!
An additional SU has been added to the armor value of this ship, and
Microsol has retrofitted a Gencore auto-repair system into each ship,
making these the definite superiority fighter!
The Stalker 21.126
After destroying the tyrranical might of Vykromod a second time, Trent
found himself locked into the future through the Stargate. But that's
another story.
Now, though, he has returned with his modified Stalker C to reclaim his
past.
The Modified Stalker is equipped with an advanced molecular generator
which simulates many conventional weapons. But, it also has the power to
instantly generate any one of a number of side-ships and front
attachments. It's the power of the future.
Storm
The Storm is an older model fighter from the Bontoria War which erupted
about 220 star-years ago. Unique at its time, it was the first
starfighter equipped with an experimental phase shift technology which
rendered the craft impossible to hit.
In later years, Microsol acquired the technology for its somewhat
popular USP craft series. Unfortunately, it required critical extra
space, severely limited the size and weight of the craft, and required
excessive energy boosts.
SuperCarrot
The SuperCarrot FoodShip 9 is one of the most advanced edible fighters
ever produced. You can't go wrong with a Foodship!
Foodships are usually complemented by either the Hotdog Mustard-spread
Technology, or the dreaded SuperBanana Bombs.
U-Ship
The U-Drone is a standard mining drone which has been retrofitted with a
manual-drive cockpit and twin rapid-fire vulcan cannons. Space is
limited on this craft, so it's limited to a single backup defense unit.
This ship isn't meant for flying around in, but with an infrared
scrambler on board it's a perfect way to sneak in behind enemy lines!
Nort Ship
TOP SECRET: This ship is on loan from Nortaneous' personal hanger. The
rent on this ship is very high, but it's incredibly powerful.
The only way to describe what this ship does is to fly it and see for
yourself. Nothing on the screen is safe with its special weapon active.

Summary:
Stargates are big distortions in space. There's one here in episode 3.
Enjoy your stay.
Stargates are believed to be some sort of rift created by a massive black hole.
While this theory holds up among science fiction writers, the actual phenomenon
behind the stargate is unknown. It has been suggested that these are portions
of space created in the big bang which formed the universe.
It is believed that time is the "fourth dimension" so therefore it may have
quantity and react in the same way as other phenomena. The Stargate in our
quadrant appears to either distort time or space, perhaps both. The few ships
that have explored the Stargate and returned reported massive changes in
location. So massive are these apparent changes that no recognizable
constellations have ever been found in any direction from the captains who
have passed through.
Therefore, there is either a tremendous shift in location or time to produce
such unexpected results. No ship so far has spent enough time through the
Stargate to determine what the actual result is. This problem is compounded
by the fact that independent ship captains have reported arriving in different
locations, suggesting the Stargate's destination is not fixed.
It has been suggested that if you travel through the stargate to
reverse course immediately and head back!

Researchers on the jungle planet Torm made a breakthrough discovery on
the true nature of the wildlife referred to as dragons.
Apparently, these lifeforms are not indigenous to the planet but actually
seeded themselves onto the world without assistance. Long a difficult and
dangerous species to study, moreso due to the extreme aggressiveness of
nesting females, a link has been established to the genetic structure of Torm
dragons and similar species found on several other uncolonized worlds.
To corroborate this fact, young dragons have a harder chitinous membrane
around their bodies which stay intact even in a dead vaccuum. Food reserves
are high due to the large third stomach which holds undigested food. Coupled
with their ability to live off of both oxygen and carbon dioxide and it's
clearly possible that they can exist in space and maneuver through shifting
their own mass in powerful wing vibrations.
Later research funding has been low, however, but the remaining project
members hope the determine if there is some kind of migratory or exploratory
instinct in the dragon mind.

While under the leadership of General Zinglon, station commander at Gryphon,
a group of scientists excavated what is now called planet Gyges, after the
late Doctor of Metacology, Gyges Phildren. It is believed they excavated a
number of artifacts and devices which were then transferred to the secret
research station, Gryphon.
Full details were never released, but it is known that Gyges was conducting
some unorthodox research into the abnormal meta-physical energy invoved in the
firing of a secret weapon nicknamed the Zica Flamethrower. He apparently
removed the outer casing of the device. This mistake cost him his life and
the lives of over twelve thousand crewmembers serving in that section of the
station at the time. Sections of the station are still missing, since it was
deemed too expensive and inefficient to repair the damaged sections than build
newer, better designed sections.
Incidentally, General Zinglon is believed to have been demonstrating a new matter
transporter at the time of the explosion, but never arrived at his destination.
A surge of energy occured as the fusion generator near the research section
exploded. The transporter was linked to that generator since it required
additional power to function than was available with the standard reactors.
At that same time, billions of people reported seeing an image remarkably like
his on their vidscreens. This in turn produced a fanatical faction of divine
seekers, frustrated with their attempts to convince people that circular
shapes should be worshipped as gods. They called themselves the Cult of
Zinglon and now work in secret to bring Zinglon, "Master of All", back from
whatever dimension his molecules were scattered to.

Ixmucane is the only known tunnel world to have been excavated. Even though the
Zica had apparently been dead for 421965032 standard years, 14 days, and 32
minutes (SCI estimation), their internal defenses were still partially active and destroyed
many ships who came to investigate the tunnel world.
Microsol launched a giant excavation of the planet, equipped with powerful
destroyers as well as research vessels. Even still, 241 died trying to stop
the defensive systems. General Zinglon reportedly sacrificed ships to get
through to the control centers, rather than allow the defensive weapons to be
destroyed.
To this day, the tunnel world is a center of Microsol activity. Its open
tunnels allow for easy shipbuilding and mining of mineral deposits, as well
as the powerful geothermal energy radiation near the core. Scientists, however,
are still not certain of the exact second that the last member of the Zica
race on Gyges died, but believe it is about 25 additional seconds from their
previous estimate (calculated from their exact time of arrival for final excavation).
Researchers quote advances in dating techniques to determine more accurately
the events on Gyges. Also, they claim the fact that many of their
researchers are still being killed by accidents involving the alien technology
hampers their ability to conduct more tests.
One anonymous SCI has reported that the advances in dating technology here were worth the lives expended to
reach the core. In a tightbeam interview he said, "This timing solution will be the crowning moment in my
career. It's the most important goal to us. The Sun Project is entirely
overrated".

public knowledge. In fact, once a year, they invite members of competing
industries to the Station to view how far behind they are in comparison to
Microsol.
Still, the station has had it's share of hardships. Many pirates of both
the Mikal and Patrok clans have long looked upon it as the pinnacle of their
career if they can infiltrate the station's defenses and land a raiding party
within the research section, then return with something from their weapons
labs. Most never even make it to the station, destroyed by the dreaded Pong
ships.
One retired pirate of the Patrok clan, one ShipMaster Carlos, wrote a book
detailing highlights of his extensive career. One of which was the
infiltration and removal of a weapon now commonly referred to as the Zica
Laser Cannon. He is believed to have been assassinated the next day, but
they were too late to stop Gencore from transmitting his book over Fluxnet.
In addition, his ship was never found, though it is believed to have been
equipped with the Zica Laser. Two months later, Gencore finished development
of a device also called the Zica Laser.

Station Gryphon has recently been the main output of Microsol's advanced
weapon design program. They have released a number of high powered weapon
systems, including several advancements on their Pulse Cannon systems, and
their unique Starburst defense field.
After the Not-so-Great Gryphon Explosion, some aspects of their research were
turned over to public scrutiny, believed to be because of investigations by
families and friends of the twelve thousand crew members that died. It is
now rumored that they have just developed a new field of weapons technology
which will allow them to build much bigger weapons onto conventional battle
cruisers.

This weapon was found during an excavation of an ancient tunnel-world apparently
build by these strange space-inhabiting creatures. It is believed the Zica were
not air-breathers but subsisted mostly on thermal radiation and various
liquids for survival.
We believe this had a profound impact on their technological development,
since they appear to have developed tools and devices to manipulate and take
advantage of thermal and other radiation-based energies. Their mastery of
thermal energy appears to have led to the development of this unique null-space
flamethrower.
What little information which has leaked out of Station Gryphon, where the only
remaining samples of this device are stored, indicates the weapon uses an
energy-based particle field to generate the flame without any external air
or energy source.
Even this limited information would not have been available if it wasn't for
the unfortunate accident which apparently occured when a researcher removed
the outer covering to study the interior. A large section of the left-rear
portion of Station Gryphon is still missing to this day, a testimony to those
who would fool with something they do not understand.

The Zica Laser Weapon was introduced by Gencore after several years of
successful introduction of Zica products by Microsol. It is still unknown
why so many of these products were named after the Zica, an ancient race
which used to inhabit Gyges, among other tunnel worlds. However, it is
possible that some of these devices are not simply part of the marketing
frenzy but are actually unique technologies from Gyges.
This weapon is the most likely to be linked to the Gyges excavation, though
oddly enough, Gencore was not involved in the archaeological research. Still,
the weapon generates forced laser bursts which independent scientists have
not been able to fully explain. Laser effects are well known for the blue
range of light, but the forced pulse patterns are totally unreasonable.
The only answer that has been given so far is that there may be some unknown
energy working to distort the laser. Research is still being conducted on
the effects and reactions of the energy, though little has been accomplished.

This is a modular adaptation of the Gencore Zica SuperLaser. It is supposed to

original model.
Sonic Cannon

The sonic cannon weapon creates a minute gravitational center using FPP (Forced Particle Packing
technology) which allows a particle field to remain intact. The gravitational center is destabilized with a
hyper flux modulator before being released from the weapon. The destabilized gravitational core
modulates at a fixed frequency which is fast enough to create a shimmering field in the optical range
around green. The frequency generator uses a system of sound wave generators to help modulate the
frequency for the maximum particle dispersal and energy so far possible - hence the damage from the
weapon is caused by the sonic modulators before the weapon is fired.
Hot Dog Generators

Following the dismantling of the Superspace Hot Dawg franchise (pushed
out of the picture by the increasing popularity of International House of
Gruel), a cache of top-secret rapid hot dog generators were discovered in
a sold research warehouse on Camanis.
These generators were capable of synthesizing and elongating pork nodules at
16ms each, vapor-cooking them within 2ms, and synthesizing the bun directly
outside of the meat simulatneously. SynthaMustard was then applied using
high-speed mustard-jet apparatus. In effect, within 20ms of placing the
order a hot-dog simulacrum could be created and delivered out of the
pressurized chaimber to a waiting customer. Most generators were equipped
with as many as 20 simultaneous generation chaimbers.
These were intended for very saturated markets and would have reduced costs
over time by 50%. In fact, experts speculate that if this Hot Dawg research
had been completed a few minutes sooner, the takeover bid could have been
averted and the company saved.
However, this cruel twist of fate prompted a black-market for hot dog
generators to feed luxury-class citizens and host international barbecues.
In addition, at least one report claims that if the nozzles were tampered with
these generators could be dangerous weapons in the wrong hands.
Mega SoundChair

Sensors on your ship pick up the minute disturbances caused by sound-waves
acting on the very fine particle streams in space, then amplify and filter the identified distortions which are
then sent to your Mega SoundChair for playback. This is a consumer product which has been found to
alleviate stress and panic in untrained pilots who began invading space with their own Star Yachts a
number of years ago. It was found that when placed into silence, people would turn to music to alleviate
the dread (and subsequent insanity) caused by being alone in space and unable to hear anything. This remedy
was insufficient, however, since the music had several adverse side effects: It didn't make sense to the
mind when you're watching meteors and other objects hurtling by, consumers couldn't hear messages
broadcast to them, and people would get so wrapped up in the music they'd relax and wouldn't watch
where they were going. This was an especially bad problem in the time before Automatic Guidance and
Proximity Warning systems were refined. So, they decided to amplify what little sound was out there and
solve the problem of the unending silence panic before there were no more Star Yachts to go around.
Proton Cannon Indigo
Protron Cannon Indigo
DATA
New to Tyrian sector 2.0, this is a powerful option available for any ship.
The Indigo fires out dual IR Protron bursts in rapid succession and works
well when not confined to narrow quarters. Unfortunately, the prototype Indigo
was last seen in a secret region of Episode 2, protected by a fleet of
crystalline life forms called the Inzia in Galactic Tongue. To retrieve the
device will certainly be difficult, since the Inzia surround your ship with
crystalline mines which will confuse the Indigo system.

Companion Ships Warfly and Gerund
DATA
Just released by Gencore into Tyrian sector 2.0.
These are the latest in advanced ship tracking systems. Both models feature
a ship-history tracking system which means they will follow your ship's every
move, only they will stay a second or two behind your movement.
The Warfly packs a newly developed rapid-fire crystalline energy mine, while
the more powerful Gerund uses a triple-beam system. Recent reports reveal
that two custom prototype Lightning-Gerund craft were designed and sold to
General Nortaneous, but Gencore denies this as a false rumor.
Microsol has also released a competing line of weapons which dock with your
ship to form permanent forward cannon attachments.
Gravitron Pulse-Wave
Top Secret: Gravitron Pulse-Wave
ARCHIVE DATA
The gravitron Pulse-Wave is the ultimate in power system technology.
This is based on the Tyrian research project. Not commonly known is that
the Gryphon Explosion was caused by a Gravitron drive being connected to
a Zica Flamethrower system. This produced a 10 AEU [astral explosion
units] shock which destroyed much of the station. Therefore, use of this
drive is not suggested in open combat.
The Harbringer Plasma system was designed for the invisible ship
Illuminator. The ship will be deployed at the rear of the main Microsol
fleet in our final assault. Failure in the mission in any way will
result in the ship breaking off from combat.
<Archive note: Further details on the Illuminator are Class-16 and available
only to Vykromod-level access.>
The Illuminati is being defended by a secondary battleship platform, which
is also classified. It's job is to set up a mine defense barrier while
the Illuminator acts from a safe position. Should the secondary platform
be destroyed, the Illuminator will break off the attack.
This energy system is highly confidential and is not to be released into
general distribution. Any Microsol ship is authorized to self-destruct
using the F2+F3+F4 code. After vaporizing their armor with the code, pilots
are recommended to crash their ship in an uncharted location if possible.
Order of Zinglon
Order of Zinglon
Story
It is written that in the days of 2-D holovision, there appeared an image to
everyone in the universe. That image was the ascention of our god, Zinglon.
He gave us this image of his form so that we may look upon him and realize the
great pain he felt so that we could live new lives, free from the negative
aspects of life.
Soon afterward, the prophet Monses received the eleven cubes of holy rules,
the commandments by which all races must live in harmony.
The greatest of these commandments is that All Life-Forms May Partake
of the Wisdom of Zinglon. Every creature, big and small, is given
the opportunity to save themselves from damnation by learning the writings of
our order.
Also important is the Right to Free Speech With Exceptions. That
is, any person who follows the right of Zinglon may produce any material they
see fit which does not mock the great one himself. Those who do not follow
the order may also produce any material they wish, though the order is free
to wage Jihad against them.
Another great advance in free rights is the Spiritual Right to Eat
Crackers.
The rest are:
The Law of the Order of Zinglon is final and absolute.
All races must live in harmony or suffer the consequences.
Objects whose quantity are eleven are spiritually divine.
No race is allowed to totally destroy another, no matter what their crime.
Anyone so doing must at least keep one of the target race in stasis under their
own expense.
No life form has the right to invoke the power of Zinglon within pagan idols.
All life forms have the right to subsidized bus fare.
All life forms have the right to subsidized education, as long as they are
taught the rules of Zinglon and are bonded into slavery for life.
No life form may be harmed by the order unless the order proves that they have
not followed the above commandments.

Monses walked upon Savara and said:
"Let there be a group of laws for people to follow, so that they might learn
to be virtuous and live with honor."
And Zinglon said:
"Lo, let be it, for now when Tuesday then cometh with not again, be it
another less more it be. Be faith giveth whence came me unto, yet not needeth
for unto me, for yet be learn to be."
And Monses raised his hands aloft to take the holocubes, but lowered them
again and said:
"Huh?"
And Zinglon spake:
"Look. Here's the stuff you asked for. Take it and leave me alone."
Monses took the holocubes from the sky but saw that there was an extra cube,
a cube he had not expected. He interrupted again and spake to the heavens:
"What's the other cube for?"
And Zinglon spake:
"You know when the people have learned but the ten cubes just aren't enough?
This is for that extra push when ten just isn't enough."
Monses scratched his head and replied:
"Surely you could make the other ten stronger?"
And Zinglon spake:
"But mine go up to eleven. Now go away."
And, Zinglon blew Monses and the holocubes off the mountain...

The Perils of Space-Fruit
ANONYMOUS TRANSMISSION

The Perils of Space-Fruit:
What in the universe is all this fruit doing flying around in outer-space?
It has long been the practice of ship captains to destroy other ships and
collect their protected food stores as a trophy, since most other matter is
generally incinerated.
So why do we do it? What makes some sentient life so insensible to pain and
suffering that we think picking up our victim's last meal is some sort of
great feat of skill? It may seem humourous to you, gentle readers, to see
flying mugs of ale, spinning oranges, and hurtling strawberries, but I see
the remains of the dead, the unfortunate souls whose lives were lost without
the benefit of scarfing down that last bit of replicated food.
I beseech thee, gentle reader, to think twice before reveling in such victory.
Where will this madness end? Trade values measured in fruit to replace
coins and gems? Perhaps someone will develop weapons of mass food destruction,
allowing you to hurtle foodstuffs at unwary victims. No! This cannot be
allowed to happen! Pray to Zinglon that he will free us from this vile threat!

fruit to escape from their ship after their destruction will be sent to

Large formations of ships fly down to attack you. Individual ships in the
groups break off to fly down in various ways. You must destroy the entire
fleet to advance to the next fleet. Basically, just shoot everything you
can.
You must shoot all the small enemies to advance to the next level.
There are 7 kinds of enemies:
Zimbles : 10 pts / 20 pts attacking : Damage 4 : Eyeballs
Blottes : 15 pts / 30 pts attacking : Damage 6 : Blood Cells
Zoomers : 20 pts / 40 pts attacking : Damage 5 : Bombs

you have no shields and merely subsist on armor. However, the armor ship will
still come down to help you.
Extra lives are earned at 10000, 20000, and every 25000 pts thereafter.

STRATEGY
Game
Strategy Guide for ZINGLON'S SQUADRONS: [ZINGALA]
There are four types of enemy formations:
Type 1 : Block : A simple four row mass of enemies. They attack quickly but
if you don't care about your score you can blast through them pretty quickly.
Type 2 : Bombs : This block variation has a row of bombs in the front which
are difficult to destroy and fly down quickly. If you can blast through them,
you can get a clear shot at the Garmons. The center Garmon will not move, so
try to take it out before the formation leaves for extra points.
Type 3 : Delta : This is not a difficult formation at first, as you can take
out the side enemies fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the center Tokkies will
fly out at you extremely quickly and are difficult to anticipate. Don't let
the Zimbles get close to the bottom or else you may have difficulty maneuvering.
Type 4 : Bonus : This is a very quick formation for extra points. The
Zoomers and Roobles will attack in force first. Then, the Widget will attack.
Make sure you destroy this! After the Widget will come some more small ships
and the two remaining Garmons.
There are no special moves available in this game.

HOW TO PLAY
Game
How to play the secret ending game ZINGLON'S REVENGE:
A giant ship projects a horizontal field of energy. Small enemies fall down
from above and bounce around the edges of the screen and against the energy
field. Touching the field or one of the little enemies means almost certain
instant death.
You must shoot all the small enemies to advance to the next level.
There are 4 kinds of enemies:
Roobles : Round Fireballs - Low damage - Move left to right
Tokkies : Spikey Balls - Low damage - Move up and down quickly
Zimbles : Eyeballs - Moderate damage - Move diagonally slowly
Blottes : Blood Cells - High damage - Descend slowly and then bounce up quickly
diagonally
This game consists of 6 levels, starting on level 5 and descending in order
to the final level.
Level 5 : Mostly Roobles
Level 4 : Mostly Tokkies
Extra ship received after Level 5.
Level 3 : Zimbles and Blottes
Level 2 : Roobles, Tokkies, and Blottes
Level 1 : Mostly Zimbles
Extra ship received after Level 1.
Level 0 : Blottes - Destroy the energy field?
Extra ship received after Level 0.

STRATEGY
Game
Strategy Guide for ZINGLON'S REVENGE:
Obviously the main point to the game is to dodge the little enemies as well
as possible.
Roobles : Round Fireballs - These are very easy to destroy but get in your
way easily once they descend fairly low. Try to take these out quickly if
you can unless a Blotte is coming.
Tokkies : Spikey Balls - These can be avoided fairly easily since they move
very slowly across the screen. You can usually position a sidekick to stay
underneath them long enough to take them out.
Zimbles : Eyeballs - These are pretty slow and you can usually delay shooting
them until they start filling the screen. Try to take out the faster-moving
enemies first if you can.
Blottes : Blood Cells - These are the hardest enemies to destroy in the game.
They are fairly easy to take out while descending, so try to at least to damage
them fairly well. Once they reach bottom, they'll start bouncing quickly and
can be hard to destroy.
SECRET:
Yes, of course there are secret moves in this game. 21 of them, in fact.
Several of the more common ones are detailed below:
Sidekicks: Attach one or two of these to your ship.
Red sidekick : Press Right,Down,Left, then hold Fire and press Up.
Hot Dog: A blast of deadly dogs. Uses up your armor slowly, though.
Press Up, then hold Fire and press Down.
Of course, all other special moves are also available here.
Good luck!
So far, even the designer has problems winning this game, as it should be!
My general time to beat is 3:30, without using many secret moves.
