͹ 1. Short Description of TYRHack

TYRHack is a program that hacks out the data table of Tyrian's weapons/-
-sidekicks/etc, and lets you edit it. Ever want a sidekick that shoots out
a steady stream of Zica Level 11s? You got it! How about a ship with so
much armor that it goes off the scale? You got it! And other cool stuff!

It works on all versions of Tyrian from V1.0 to V2.0(I did NOT include a
patch file for V1.0 of Tyrian.)

I would appreciate any and all info on unknown data. Just E-mail it to
Kicker101@aol.com

͹ 4. Sidekicks(They're that complicated)

We are going to look at how Sidekicks are in V1.0/1.1 first, then look at
how it change in V2.0(This is what delayed the release of this program).

V1.0/1.1 Sidekicks:

# of Patterns: This tells Tyrian how to use the frame data. There are two
settings for this:1 and 2. 1 means it just uses all the frame data all
the time. I.E:It never stops when you're not shooting. 2 means that it
uses frame 1 when you're not shooting, and runs through the other frames
		when you are.

Powers: This tells Tyrian how many "Powers" of weapons there are. You
have undoubtedly noticed this with the Charge Cannon/Zica Supercharger.
It increases the weapon number by 1 every couple of seconds until it
reaches the max number of powers. Say the weapon you use is 50. If Powers
is set to 0, it will stay at fifty. If Powers is changed to 5, it will
slowly increase the weapon # to 50+5, or 55. It will also increase the
number of each of the frames. Lets say if frame #1 is set to 90. When
power is maxed, it will show frame #1 as 95.

No. Frames: Number of frames used in total. 'nuff said.

Trail(V1.0/1.1 ONLY!): When set to a low number, it makes the sidekick give
off a trail of explosions. They don't do any damage to anything, they just
		look cool.

Edit Frames: There are 20 frame "Slots." You may set each frame as whatever
you wish. I have already described how this is used in the other stuff.

V2.0 Sidekicks:

These are basically identical, with a few changes which alter stuff.
Trail is gone. It is replaced with Movement type. They have also added a
SECOND Sidekick graphics list, for certain things.

Movement Type: Tells Tyrian how the sidekick moves in relation to your ship.
They are pretty self explanatory. Except for one thing-The * next to some
of the descriptions. They tell you that it uses the secondary graphics
stuff. You MUST use the secondary graphics for front-mounted stuff.

In relation to Specials: In V2.0, two special "Uses" were added to "Create"
sidekicks. When you select one of them as a use, you then set the Weapon
field to the sidekick. I programmmed a little chunk of code to
automatically display sidekicks instead of weapons, to make it easier on
		you.

And finally, the notation I used next to the names of the frames:

A/U/S:A=Always Used U=Used whenever you shoot
      S=Used whenever you don't shoot

F#=Frame Number

P#=Power Number(+1)

͹ 5. Editing the Info file and the INI file

The Info and INI files can be edited for special things. The INI file has
only one thing I recommend editing: The Directory. You can change the
directory setting so you can keep TYRHack in a separate directory than
Tyrian. This is recommended if you have ALOT of TPF files(Ha! Like that'll
ever happen...). Just edit the proper field.

The Info file is vastly more complicated, and it is the backbone of TYRHack.
It contains all the names of everything that I've found. They are separated
into sections, some in multiple amounts so as to differ from version to
version(You may notice the V1 or V2 in front of some of the names). You may
insert new items in these sections if you wish, but make sure you read the
stuff at the beginning of the file first to make sure you put it in the right
spot.

͹ 6. Excetera

All the crap about how TYRHack came to be 'n stuff you won't care about.

TYRHack was originally programmed for Tyrian V1.0 when I started hunting
around for stuff in the data files. I loaded up my hexadecimal editor on
TYRIAN1.LVL and just searched for "Multi", just for the heck of it. I was
surprised when I found something. And so I wrote a program to edit the
stuff easily. I didn't work too hard on it, as I was writing other stuff at
the same time. Like, Fast 3D Graphics 'n stuff. I didn't get around to
finishing it until Tyrian V2.0.

And now, I must go. Happy TYRHacking!
